A Lecture on “Strength Beyond Sight: Building A Powerful Mindset”

The Women’s Studies Centre of Thiagarajar College, Madurai – 09, organized a Meditation Programme in commemoration of World Meditation Day titled “Inner Stability for Outer Success” on 23rd December 2025, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal – 3 (Good Health and Well-being). The United Nations has designated World Meditation Day to highlight the importance of mental health, inner peace, and holistic well-being in fostering sustainable societies. In an era marked by stress, anxiety, and fast-paced lifestyles, the observance encourages individuals to adopt mindfulness and meditation practices to enhance emotional resilience, psychological balance, and overall quality of life.

The programme commenced at 9:30 a.m. at Dr. Radha Thiagarajan Auditorium with a Welcome Address delivered by Dr. R. Aruna, Director, Women’s Studies Centre, who highlighted the importance of meditation and yoga in achieving inner calm, mental clarity, and overall personal growth in today’s fast-paced academic and social environment.

The introduction of the Chief Guest was delivered by Dr. M. Alamelumangai, who formally introduced the resource person, Mrs. H. Pamani, Yoga Instructor, Madurai, and briefed the gathering about her expertise and experience in yoga, meditation, and holistic wellness practices.

The resource person, Mrs. H. Pamani, conducted an engaging and insightful session focusing on the theme “Inner Stability for Outer Success.” She elaborated on the difference between yoga and meditation, explained the various types of meditation, including walking meditation and mindful eating, and discussed the types of asanas beneficial for physical and mental health. She also emphasized laughing therapy, body movements, focused breathing techniques, visualization and guided imagery, and methods of reflection and self-awareness.

During the session, students were guided through practical exercises on breathing control, candle meditation (Trataka Yoga), body relaxation techniques, and methods to connect with inner consciousness and universal energy. The session encouraged students to cultivate mindfulness, emotional balance, and clarity of thought, thereby strengthening their ability to face academic and personal challenges with confidence.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Krithick Roshini, III B.Sc. Psychology, who expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person, the management, the Principal, the Director and Chairperson of the Women’s Studies Centre, faculty members, and students for their support and active participation, which contributed to the success of the programme.
