The Women’s Studies Centre of Thiagarajar College, Madurai – 09 organized an Awareness Lecture on “Speak to Lead: Communication as a Leadership Tool” on 02nd March 2026 at the Dr. Radha Thiagarajan Auditorium, in alignment with SDG – 4 (Quality Education). The programme aimed to enhance students’ communication skills and highlight the importance of communication in leadership and personal development.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. R. Aruna, Director, Women’s Studies Centre. The resource person, Mr. S. Karthikai Deeban, Programme Executive, All India Radio, Madurai, delivered an engaging lecture on the role of communication in effective leadership. He explained different forms of communication, the importance of body language, active listening, voice modulation, and strategies to overcome stage fear and build confidence in public speaking.

The interactive session included discussions and speaking activities that helped students improve their communication and presentation skills. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. V. Veena Vidhya Sri, Coordinator, Gender Studies.
