The Women’s Studies Centre, Thiagarajar College, Madurai, organized a Special Lecture on “Money Matters: Plan, Save & Prosper” on 29 July 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in the Diamond Jubilee Hall, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth. The programme aimed to promote financial literacy and encourage students to develop responsible financial habits.

The programme commenced with the Welcome Address by Dr. R. Aruna, Director, Women’s Studies Centre, who emphasized the importance of financial literacy in achieving economic independence.

The resource person, CA R. Jayakrithika, Principal Consultant, Vyom Consultants and Founder, R. Jayakrithika & Associates, Madurai, delivered an informative and interactive session on budgeting, saving, investing, and wealth creation. She engaged students through Mentimeter-based quizzes and explained key financial concepts, including inflation, the 50-30-20 budgeting rule, the power of compounding, and various investment avenues such as PPF, mutual funds, SIPs, gold, and real estate. She also encouraged students to begin investing early and adopt disciplined financial practices.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. M. Karthiya Sree, III B.Sc. Botany.
