Real Time Lecture on "Post Pandemic Mental Health"

The Women’s Studies Centre of Thiagarajar College organized an onstage lecture on the need of the hour, Post Pandemic mental Health on 13.10.2021. Dr. C. Ramasubramanian MBBS., DPM., MD., Psychiatrist, Founder – M.S. Chellamuthu Trust, Research Foundation, State Nodal Police officer Well- Being Programme, delivered the key note address for about 45 minutes. He spoke about the depressing health condition that prevailed in the society during the pandemic and the medical emergency handled meticulously by the frontline warriors, doctors and nurses. He requested the students to stay confident and resilient in saving themselves from the various physical and mental health issues.
Dr. Uma Kannan, Chairperson of Women’s Studies Centre presided over the meeting. In her presidential address she drew attention to the multitude mental health challenges thrown by the pandemic to the society at large, like anxiety, mental depression, social withdrawal, seclusion etc. She advised the students to mind their minds and turn such challenges into opportunities
Dr. D. Pandiaraja, Principal, Thiagarajar college offered his felicitation and listed out the various achievements of the college during the pandemic. He motivated the students to be consistent in their hardwork to taste success. The interactive session, which lasted for an hour was moderated by Dr. D. Janet Vasanthakumari, Director Counseling, M. S. Chellamuthu Trust. It turned out to be a meaningful and informative session on post pandemic mental health. Around 15 students and a few faculty members got their doubts cleared by posing questions which were lucidly answered by both Dr. C. Ramasubramanian and D. Janet Vasanthakumari. Around 250 students of various departments including Part V students of WSC participated in the lecture, following Covid SOP like mask and social distancing.
The director of the centre Dr. V. Subathra devi welcomed the gathering and Dr. R. Angeline Chella Rajathi, Assistant Coordinator, WSC delivered the vote of thanks. The Coordinators Dr. I. Chitra and Dr. K. Gangadevi organised the programme
