As a novel initiative to rejuvenate the spirit of the women faculty of the college, post pandemic, Women’s Studies Centre celebrated Women’s Day on 8.3.2022 by conducting three cultural competitions, Singing, Dancing and Dumb Charades for the women teachers. Around 200 women including teaching and non- teaching staff participated in the contests with overwhelming enthusiasm and showcased their talents. Our magnanimous management sponsored the programme with high tea and prizes for the winners. The women teachers felt refreshed with a positive attitude and thanked the centre for the event.
The International Women’s Day celebration continued with a pep talk by Deputy Inspector General, Ms. Ponni. The event was celebrated in commemoration of the memories of our President Emeritus, Dr. Mrs. Radha Thiagarajan, an embodiment of Women empowerment. S. Ponni created a sensation among the students when she walked into the auditorium in her most coveted uniform. Her inspiring speech was a big motivation for the students. She insisted on the healthy, indiscriminative attitude of parents, for girl children to bloom into successful women. She instructed the students to beware social media and concentrate on their studies to explore their potential. She swept the students off their feet with her scintillating remarks. The Secretary of the college, Mr. Hari Thiagarajan presided over the celebration. The Principal, Dr. D. Pandiaraja offered his felicitation.
